The National Football League (NFL) has pledged $5 million to aid wildfire relief efforts in Southern California, as the region grapples with widespread devastation. This substantial donation is a combined effort from several teams, including the Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, Minnesota Vikings, Houston Texans, and the NFL Foundation. These funds will be distributed to local organizations providing essential support to those impacted by the fires.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell expressed the league's deep concern for the affected communities and praised the bravery of first responders and residents assisting their neighbors. He emphasized the NFL's commitment to collaborating with the Los Angeles teams to provide necessary aid during this challenging period.

The devastating wildfires have caused widespread destruction, with over 10,000 buildings destroyed and more than 27,000 acres burned across the Los Angeles area. The impact of the fires has even disrupted the NFL playoff schedule, with the NFC wild-card game between the Rams and Vikings relocated from SoFi Stadium in Inglewood to State Farm Stadium in Arizona due to safety concerns.

The Los Angeles Chargers have also pledged $200,000 to support various organizations, including the American Red Cross, LA Fire Department Foundation, Team Rubicon, and animal shelters caring for displaced pets. In a further display of support, the Arizona Cardinals dispatched a plane to Los Angeles to assist with transporting Rams players, staff, families, and pets to Arizona, and have offered their practice facilities to the Rams.

FOX Corporation has also donated $1 million to the American Red Cross's wildfire relief efforts, further demonstrating the widespread support for those impacted by this disaster.
