Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker recently addressed the humorous incident where she misspelled the name of the city's beloved Eagles during a celebratory speech. The mistake, which occurred during a playoff rally, quickly went viral, drawing widespread amusement and commentary.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Mayor Parker acknowledged the flub with good humor, stating, "We don't promise perfection, I'm so happy I never have, especially after I couldn't spell Eagles right." Her candid response drew laughter from the attending reporters.

The incident, which involved Parker attempting the fan base's traditional spelling chant, resulted in her spelling "E-L-G-S-E-S." The moment was quickly seized upon by local businesses, with Philly Goat, an independent sports apparel company, creating a commemorative T-shirt featuring the misspelling.

Parker, who is the first woman mayor in Philadelphia's history, was elected in 2023, defeating Republican David Oh. She previously served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives and the Philadelphia City Council. The Eagles are set to face the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game this Sunday, with a Super Bowl berth on the line.
