Former President Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Agriculture, Brooke Rollins, has been confirmed by the Senate. This follows the recent confirmation of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Health Secretary. Rollins served as president and CEO of the America First Policy Institute, a think tank she co-founded after Trump's initial term. She also held positions within the Trump administration as director of the Office of American Innovation and acting director of the Domestic Policy Council.
Trump nominated Rollins in November, praising her prior work and emphasizing her dedication to supporting American farmers, ensuring food security, and revitalizing rural communities.
Following a hearing last month before the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee, Rollins received unanimous bipartisan support, paving the way for her confirmation.
Rollins becomes the 16th confirmed Cabinet member in Trump's new administration. This rapid confirmation pace surpasses both Trump's first term and former President Biden's initial appointments. At this point in their respective presidencies, Trump had 11 confirmations, and Biden had seven. Neither reached 16 confirmations until March of their first terms.
