Veteran running back Ezekiel Elliott is set to continue his 2024 season, joining the Los Angeles Chargers' practice squad as they prepare for their AFC Wild Card clash against the Houston Texans. Multiple reports confirmed the move on Monday.

Elliott, 29, spent the regular season with the Dallas Cowboys, marking his return after stints with the New England Patriots. This move comes after a series of offseason changes, including Tony Pollard's departure to the Tennessee Titans, Derrick Henry's signing with the Baltimore Ravens, and the Cowboys' decision not to pursue Henry.

In his 15 games with Dallas, Elliott accumulated 226 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 74 carries. Over his nine-season career, the two-time rushing champion has amassed an impressive 9,130 yards and 74 rushing touchdowns. He now aims to contribute to the Chargers' playoff aspirations.

The Chargers' backfield, led by J.K. Dobbins and Gus Edwards, has seen significant action this season following Austin Ekeler's move to the Washington Commanders. Dobbins has enjoyed a resurgent year with 905 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, while Edwards has contributed 365 yards and four touchdowns.

However, an ankle injury sidelined Edwards for the final two regular season games, potentially creating an opportunity for Elliott to see playing time if Edwards remains unavailable for the Wild Card game against Houston.
