A suspected swatting incident targeting the Georgia residence of Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene resulted in a fatal car crash involving local police. On Monday, Rep. Greene reported a bomb threat against her home, which was communicated to the Rome Police Department's assistant chief via email. This prompted the deployment of a bomb squad to her property.
This isn't an isolated incident for the congresswoman. Since her election, Rep. Greene states she has been the target of numerous swatting calls, estimating at least nine occurrences.

Swatting involves making a false emergency call to authorities, often involving a fabricated threat of violence, to trigger a large-scale police response at a specific address. This practice can divert critical resources away from genuine emergencies.
Rep. Greene indicated the threatening email originated from a Russian IP address. Her office is collaborating with local and federal law enforcement agencies, including the FBI, to investigate and identify the responsible individual.
Tragically, while responding to the incident at Rep. Greene's home, a Rome police officer was involved in a fatal car accident. The officer was traveling in a personal vehicle en route to join the bomb squad when the accident occurred near Redmond Road and Walmart, causing significant traffic disruptions.
The accident resulted in the death of a woman, later identified as Tammie Pickelsimer, and injuries to the police officer. Rep. Greene expressed her grief and outrage over the incident, emphasizing the deadly consequences of such malicious acts and the strain they place on law enforcement. She offered her condolences to the victim's family and the injured officer.

Rep. Greene condemned the perpetrator, attributing the woman's death to the swatting incident. She expressed gratitude to the Rome Police Department for their service and commitment to public safety. The cause of the accident remains under investigation, and Fox News Digital has contacted Rome police for further information.
