Two years after the disappearance of 5-year-old Summer Wells, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) has released an age-progression image depicting what she might look like at age 7. Summer vanished from her Rogersville, Tennessee home on June 15, 2021, a day her father, Don Wells, describes as both beautiful and heartbreaking. He vividly recalls the sunshine and the stark contrast with the devastating feeling of loss. Summer was last seen wearing gray pants and a pink shirt, possibly barefoot.

The age-progression photo offers a glimmer of hope in the ongoing search for Summer. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) considers this case one of their most exhaustive missing child investigations, vowing to continue the search until answers are found. Over the past two years, countless hours and resources have been dedicated to the case, including numerous search warrants.
Don Wells, who was incarcerated on unrelated DUI charges following Summer's disappearance, shared memories of his daughter with family spokesperson Tim Mullen. He described her as an active child who enjoyed spending time outdoors with her brothers. He blames the kidnapper for snatching Summer away from their family, emphasizing that no one witnessed the abduction.

Following Summer's disappearance, Child Protective Services removed her three brothers from the Wells' home. Candus Bly, Summer's mother, reported last seeing her daughter after she finished planting flowers with her grandmother. Both parents maintain their belief that Summer was abducted, despite no one witnessing the event. Summer’s brothers were reportedly the last to see her around 6 p.m. that day.

The Wells family has faced public scrutiny and harassment, prompting them to relocate from Tennessee. Family spokesperson Tim Mullen highlighted the need for increased protection for families dealing with missing children, citing the UK’s laws against harassment of vulnerable individuals as an example. The family has also released a YouTube video featuring news coverage, interviews, and photos related to Summer's disappearance.
The investigation remains active, and authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Hawkins County Sheriff's Office or the TBI. The case carries an added layer of tragedy, as Candus Bly’s sister, Rose Marie Bly, also disappeared in 2009 from Wisconsin in a case that remains unsolved.
