Network News Blackout: Biden Bribery Allegations Ignored While Trump Indictment Dominates Coverage

Created: JANUARY 20, 2025

A recent study reveals a stark contrast in media coverage: while major networks dedicated extensive airtime to former President Trump's indictment, allegations of bribery against President Biden received no attention during the same period.

An analysis by the Media Research Center's NewsBusters found that ABC, CBS, and NBC collectively spent 291 minutes covering Trump's indictment between June 8 and June 12. In striking contrast, these networks offered zero coverage of a bombshell report from Fox News Digital concerning the Biden family.

The Fox News Digital report, based on sources familiar with a confidential FBI interview, alleges that President Biden received $5 million from a Burisma Holdings executive. This Ukrainian natural gas company also allegedly paid Hunter Biden $50,000 monthly while serving on its board, suggesting a potential pay-to-play scheme.

Major networks focused heavily on Trump's indictment while ignoring allegations against President Biden.

While these significant allegations against President Biden emerged, prominent news anchors on the major networks chose to concentrate solely on Trump's indictment. George Stephanopoulos of "Good Morning America" emphasized the legal principle that no one is above the law, highlighting Trump's historic position as the first former president to face federal criminal charges.

George Stephanopoulos emphasized the legal principle that no one is above the law in relation to Trump's indictment.

Norah O'Donnell of "CBS Evening News" characterized Trump's indictment as historic and "breathtaking in its scope and devastating in its detail." She focused on evidence presented, including alleged recordings of Trump discussing sensitive military information.

Lester Holt of "NBC Nightly News" described the charges against Trump as "stunning," emphasizing the 37 counts, including obstruction allegations, and highlighting the alleged storage of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.

L. Brent Bozell, founder and president of the Media Research Center, criticized ABC, CBS, and NBC for their lack of Biden coverage, calling it a disgrace. He questioned the networks' journalistic integrity, suggesting they prioritize narratives that damage one candidate while suppressing information about another.

Fox News Digital contacted ABC, CBS, and NBC for comment but has not yet received a response.
