Congressman Introduces Resolution to Designate July as "American Pride Month"

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Texas Republican Representative Wesley Hunt has introduced a resolution to formally recognize July as "American Pride Month." This initiative aims to celebrate the United States' achievements and honor the patriots who have shaped the nation. The resolution comes as LGBTQ+ Pride Month concludes, prompting Hunt to challenge the Biden administration and corporations to demonstrate the same level of enthusiasm for American pride as they did for LGBTQ+ pride.

Hunt's resolution emphasizes the importance of remembering and appreciating American history and values. He expressed concern about declining patriotism, citing a Wall Street Journal poll showing a significant drop in patriotic sentiment since 1998. He believes that establishing "American Pride Month" can help reverse this trend.

The Congressman also questioned whether the White House and corporations would display the American flag with the same prominence as they did the Pride flag in June. He highlighted the White House's display of a Pride flag alongside American flags, which drew criticism for potentially violating U.S. flag code.

To promote American pride, Hunt plans a month-long social media campaign using the hashtag #AmericanPrideMonth. He intends to share pro-America content daily throughout July, hoping to inspire a renewed sense of patriotism across the country.
