Singer Shakira was admitted to the hospital on Saturday due to an abdominal problem, leading to the cancellation of her concert in Lima, Peru. The Colombian artist shared the news on Instagram on Sunday, explaining that her medical team advised against performing due to her condition.

Shakira expressed her disappointment at missing the performance and her eagerness to reconnect with fans in Peru. She assured them that her team and promoters are working to reschedule the concert and thanked everyone for their understanding.

The specifics of Shakira's medical issue and the duration of her hospitalization remain undisclosed. Fox News Digital's request for comment from Shakira's representatives has not yet been answered.

The Lima concert was to be Shakira's third performance on her "Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran" world tour, which began on February 11. Earlier this month, Shakira won the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album for "Las Mujeres Ya No LLoran."

Last year, Spanish prosecutors recommended dismissing a second investigation into Shakira's finances related to a tax dispute. She had been accused of owing €6.7 million ($7.2 million) in taxes on her 2018 income. The Spanish government alleged she used an offshore company to avoid paying taxes, but state prosecutors found insufficient evidence of a fiscal crime.
In November, Shakira settled a separate tax evasion case with the Spanish government, reportedly stemming from her residency status between 2012 and 2014. She now resides in Miami following her separation from soccer star Gerard Piqué in 2022 after a 12-year relationship.
