Coyotes Terminate Galchenyuk's Contract After Arrest

Created: JANUARY 28, 2025

Barely two weeks after signing a contract with the Arizona Coyotes, Alex Galchenyuk's tenure with the team has abruptly ended. The Coyotes placed Galchenyuk on unconditional waivers for the purpose of contract termination following his arrest on several misdemeanor charges, including a private property hit-and-run, disorderly conduct, failure to obey, resisting arrest, and threatening or intimidating. The incident occurred in Scottsdale, Arizona, and while no injuries were reported, the property damage resulted in the hit-and-run charge.

The third overall pick in the 2012 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens, Galchenyuk spent his first six seasons in Montreal. Over the past five seasons, he has played for numerous teams, including the Coyotes, Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Avalanche, and two AHL teams.
