Lewis III followed in his father's footsteps, playing football at the college level. Starting as a running back in high school, he transitioned to cornerback at the University of Miami, appearing in nine games over two seasons. He later transferred to Coastal Carolina and then Virginia Union, contributing on defense and special teams. An official autopsy report is still pending.
