Former UN Ambassador and 2024 presidential hopeful Nikki Haley is set to deliver a significant foreign policy address this week, focusing on the future of US-China relations. The speech comes at a time of heightened tensions and escalating aggressive behavior from the Chinese communist regime.

Haley, known for her hawkish stance on China, has consistently criticized the Biden administration's approach to the nation, labeling it as weak. She has advocated for a firmer stance against Beijing for many years, including during her tenure as UN ambassador where she directly challenged Chinese officials. Her criticisms of President Biden extend to what she perceives as failures across military, economic, and diplomatic interactions with China.

The upcoming speech, scheduled for Friday at the American Enterprise Institute, will highlight Haley's foreign policy credentials and her track record of pushing for a tougher stance against China, coupled with greater US self-reliance. Her past actions underscore this commitment, including calling for a boycott of the Beijing Olympics, urging a ban on TikTok, and advocating for the US to withdraw from a major World Health Organization meeting if Taiwan was excluded. She has also been outspoken against corporations for what she views as hypocrisy regarding China's human rights record.

Haley's campaign emphasizes her experience and expertise in foreign policy, particularly her firm stance on China. "Communist China presents the most significant threat to American security and prosperity today. Nikki Haley possesses the necessary strength, experience, and expertise to confront China, as demonstrated during her time at the United Nations," stated campaign spokesman Ken Farnaso.

Since leaving the UN in 2018, Haley has continued to advocate for stronger support for Taiwan, criticize corporations engaging with China, and raise public awareness about the perceived threat posed by China through various speeches and written pieces.

Following the address, Haley will participate in a discussion with AEI executives Zack Cooper and Robert Doar as part of the "A New China Playbook" series. The discussion will center on how the US can maintain its advantage over China by bolstering regional alliances.

This speech follows a period of increased Chinese aggression toward Taiwan, fueling concerns about a potential invasion. China considers Taiwan a breakaway province. This aggression is accompanied by online militaristic propaganda from China. Recent reports also indicate that China has reached an agreement with Cuba to establish a spy base near the US. While the administration initially disputed this report, they later confirmed China's ongoing efforts to expand its surveillance capabilities in Cuba, describing it as a pre-existing issue.

Currently, Secretary of State Antony Blinken is in China, where he has expressed serious concerns regarding China's recent provocative actions. This visit, initially planned for earlier this year, was postponed due to the Chinese spy balloon incident over US airspace. President Biden recently commented on the incident, suggesting it was unintentional and more embarrassing for China than a deliberate act.
