A 23-year-old medical student from Melbourne, Australia, defied the odds by surviving for two weeks lost in the Kosciuszko National Park. Hadi Nazari became separated from his hiking companions on December 26, 2024, while taking photographs. He was found after approaching a group of hikers on January 8, remarkably healthy considering his ordeal.

Nazari subsisted on limited provisions – just two muesli bars – supplementing his diet with foraged berries and water from creeks. Police Inspector Josh Broadfoot expressed astonishment at Nazari's resilience and positive attitude, noting his good spirits upon being found. The hiker had covered over six miles of challenging terrain, traversing steep, densely forested areas. His resourcefulness and determination played a crucial role in his survival.

A massive search effort involving over 300 people had been underway since Nazari's disappearance. The discovery of his campfire, camera, and hiking poles offered hope that he was still mobile. After being reunited with his relieved friends, Nazari was transported to a hospital for a medical evaluation. Ambulance Inspector Adam Mower reported that he primarily required treatment for dehydration, highlighting his remarkable physical condition given the circumstances.
