Former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson has formally announced her intention to run for chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC). In a letter published on her website, Williamson outlined her vision for a revitalized Democratic Party, emphasizing the need to understand and counter the political forces that propelled Donald Trump to victory. She stressed the importance of recognizing the emotional and psychological aspects of Trump's appeal, arguing that traditional political strategies alone will not be sufficient to secure future Democratic victories.

Williamson highlighted the need for a renewed sense of patriotism and a deeper connection to the nation's historical legacy. She believes the Democratic Party must inspire voters to see supporting Democrats as the best way to uphold and advance that legacy. Williamson's announcement comes as several other individuals, including former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley, have also declared their candidacy for DNC chair.

Williamson, a self-described spiritual/political activist and author, has previously sought the Democratic presidential nomination in both 2020 and 2024. While her previous presidential campaigns did not gain significant traction, she now seeks to lead the Democratic Party from the top.
