Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Company has initiated a voluntary recall of a specific batch of its milk chocolate-covered macadamia nuts packaged in 1-ounce pouches. The recall is due to the presence of undeclared almonds, a potential allergen, posing a risk of serious or life-threatening reactions for those with almond allergies. While no illnesses have been reported to date, the company is taking proactive measures to ensure consumer safety.
The affected product, with UPC 0 72992 04260 3, lot number K4351, and a best-by date of July 2026, was distributed to World Market and Abraham & Sons, Inc. in Southern California. The recall was initiated after the company's quality control process identified the undeclared almonds. The product was manufactured by a third-party co-manufacturer, and Mauna Loa has taken immediate steps to contain the affected product, notify relevant parties, and report the issue to the FDA.

This recall follows several other recent product recalls, including an escalated recall of certain Quaker Oats pancake mixes due to potential health risks. The FDA has classified the pancake mix recall as Class I, indicating a reasonable probability of serious adverse health consequences or death. Other recent recalls include alfalfa sprouts, canned tuna, doughnuts, and breadcrumbs. Mauna Loa apologizes for any inconvenience and reaffirms its commitment to product safety and quality.
