During a recent appearance on "The View," transgender actress and advocate Laverne Cox openly condemned President Trump's executive orders concerning transgender individuals. Cox, there to promote her new TV series "Clean Slate," didn't shy away from expressing her strong disapproval of the administration's policies.
Cox specifically targeted the executive orders restricting transgender language within the federal government, labeling them as "illegal." She voiced concern over what she perceived as misleading information being disseminated and emphasized the negative impact of these policies.

Co-host Ana Navarro initiated the political conversation, acknowledging Cox's blend of acting and activism, and inviting her perspective on the recent executive orders. One of these orders, "Defending women from gender ideology extremism and restoring biological truth to the federal government," asserts a binary definition of sex (male and female) as U.S. policy, and outlines how federal agencies should implement this directive. Another, the "No Men in Women's Sports" executive order, mandates that participation in women's sports in public institutions be determined by biological sex, not gender identity.
Cox shared her experience with anti-trans discrimination, noting that it has been an ongoing issue, particularly at the state level, where numerous states have enacted bans on gender-affirming care for young people. She expressed distress over the impact on trans families, including forced relocation and the criminalization of parents seeking such care for their children. Cox lamented that these issues, previously confined to state levels, are now escalating to the federal level.

Cox expressed her affection for the trans community and emphasized the damaging nature of Trump's orders. She expressed hope that the orders would face legal challenges. Furthermore, she argued that transgender individuals, representing a small fraction of the population, are being unfairly targeted and used as a scapegoat for broader economic problems facing the country.
