Television host Elizabeth Chambers expressed her dissatisfaction with the government's handling of the recent Los Angeles fires in a conversation with Fox News Digital. She characterized the situation as a "disaster," stating her belief that authorities were ill-prepared for the scale of the event.
Chambers specifically highlighted the actions of Rick Caruso, a billionaire real estate developer and former mayoral candidate. She noted the stark contrast between the untouched Palisades Village, which Caruso had a hand in protecting, and the surrounding devastation. "The music is still playing in Palisades Village, as if it's Disneyland and everything around it is destruction," Chambers remarked, questioning the adequacy and timeliness of the official response. She directly contrasted Caruso's preparedness with the city's, implying his efforts saved the Village.
Caruso himself had previously criticized the city's "absolute mismanagement" for the lack of water available to fight the fires, echoing Chambers' concerns. He specifically pointed to the absence of water from fire hydrants as a major failing. The fires, which began on January 7th, have tragically resulted in fatalities and widespread displacement. The official death toll has risen to 27, with over 30 individuals still unaccounted for.
Chambers also shared her personal experience of evacuating with her two children, prioritizing essential documents and cherished family photos. She emphasized the importance of remaining calm and reassuring for her children during the stressful ordeal. The television personality stressed open communication and a focus on family unity, emphasizing that material possessions can be replaced.

Beyond her personal experience, Chambers is actively contributing to relief efforts. Through her charity, Cupcake for a Cause, she is donating all proceeds from the sale of a special Strawberry Lemonade Cupcake to the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation until February 1st. The choice of flavor is symbolic, referencing California's significant strawberry production and the idea of making the best of a difficult situation. Chambers' company underscored the initiative on Instagram, highlighting the ongoing devastation and their commitment to supporting the community.
