Whistleblowers Allege Interference in Hunter Biden Investigation, Raising Questions of DOJ Impartiality

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Recent whistleblower testimony concerning the Hunter Biden investigation has sparked allegations of potential government interference and a lack of impartiality within the Department of Justice. Former Trump advisor Stephen Miller and journalist Miranda Devine discussed these concerns on Fox News' 'Hannity,' arguing that the DOJ's actions appear politically motivated.

Devine emphasized the gravity of the whistleblowers' claims, highlighting potential corruption and the risks these individuals now face. She expressed hope for public support as they navigate potential retaliation from both the government and Hunter Biden's legal team. The whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and an anonymous colleague, allege that Biden administration officials exerted undue influence on the investigation, despite assurances from Attorney General Merrick Garland that Delaware U.S. Attorney David Weiss, a Trump appointee, had full autonomy.

According to Devine, the whistleblowers' testimony contradicts Garland's statements, leading her to conclude that "someone is lying." She anticipates that House Republicans will summon relevant individuals to testify under oath. The whistleblowers allege that U.S. Attorneys in California and Washington D.C. blocked charges against Hunter Biden in their jurisdictions, despite Weiss's reported attempts. They also claim an Assistant U.S. Attorney discouraged questioning about President Biden's potential involvement in his son's dealings.

The second, anonymous whistleblower alleges Hunter Biden received millions of dollars from Ukraine, Romania, and China between 2014 and 2019. Miller argued that the DOJ's actions, combined with ongoing legal pursuits against Donald Trump, suggest a concerted effort to influence the upcoming election. He questioned the department's commitment to democracy and the American people, citing the stark contrast between the intense scrutiny faced by Trump and the perceived protection afforded to President Biden.

The controversy also involves a WhatsApp message Hunter Biden allegedly sent to a Chinese businessman in 2017, claiming to be with his father and pressuring for the fulfillment of a commitment. This incident, along with other allegations, raises questions about President Biden's previous denials of involvement in or knowledge of his son's business activities.
