Whistleblower Testimony Alleges Hunter Biden Used President's Name in Business Dealings

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Congressional testimony from IRS whistleblowers has ignited controversy, alleging Hunter Biden leveraged his father's presence to influence a Chinese business partner. The House Ways and Means Committee released the testimony, which details claims of interference from the Justice Department, FBI, and IRS in the Hunter Biden tax evasion investigation.

Supervisory Special Agent Gary Shapley Jr., who oversaw the IRS probe, revealed a 2017 WhatsApp message where Hunter Biden purportedly told Henry Zhao, CEO of Harvest Fund Management, that he was with his father and they wanted to know why a commitment hadn't been fulfilled. The message reportedly included a threat of repercussions if Zhao didn't comply with Biden's demands.

This revelation contradicts President Biden's repeated assertions that he was unaware of his son's business dealings. The President has previously stated to the press on multiple occasions that he has never discussed business with his son.

The investigation into Hunter Biden's finances, codenamed "Sportsman," began in 2018 and stemmed from suspicious activity reports related to funds from China and other countries. Shapley asserts that decisions made throughout the investigation appeared politically motivated, including delays and restrictions on investigators' lines of questioning. He alleges these actions ultimately benefited Hunter Biden.
