A Silicon Valley CEO, Andrei Karkar, 47, of ERAS Holdings, was arrested in San Francisco on Saturday on multiple serious charges, including rape, robbery, false imprisonment, assault with a deadly weapon, and damaging a wireless communication device. The arrest followed a report of a sexual assault in the downtown area where a woman told police she had been forcibly raped and assaulted. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Karkar's attorney, Eric Safire, stated that the district attorney subsequently discharged the case and Karkar was released without charges being filed. Safire contended that Karkar's detention was unnecessary and that he was wrongly denied bond. The San Francisco District Attorney's office has not yet commented publicly on the case's dismissal.

The San Francisco Police Department's Special Victims Unit is actively investigating the incident. They are asking anyone with information to contact them.

Karkar's father, Edward Karkar, founded Karkar Electronics, a telecommunications company, in 1959. The younger Karkar, a Georgetown University graduate, is involved with various think tanks and is a supporter of the arts, sciences, environmental causes, and philanthropy.
