In a Friday address at the Moms for Liberty Joyful Warriors National Summit in Philadelphia, former President Trump sharply condemned President Biden's student loan forgiveness initiative, which was recently struck down by the Supreme Court. Trump characterized the plan as an attempt to "buy votes" and criticized Biden as "corrupt."
The Supreme Court's decision, delivered earlier on Friday, deemed Biden's plan unconstitutional. The plan aimed to provide up to $10,000 in debt relief for borrowers earning less than $125,000 annually, with Pell Grant recipients eligible for up to $20,000.

Trump argued that the plan would have been unfair to those who diligently repaid their loans. He also referenced the Supreme Court's ruling in 303 Creative LLC. v. Elenis, which affirmed a Christian web designer's right to refuse service to same-sex couples, framing it as a "tremendous win" for religious freedom.
Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for the 6-3 majority, explained that the HEROES Act does not grant the authority for such a broad loan cancellation plan. The plan would have eliminated approximately $430 billion in federal student loan debt, impacting millions of borrowers.

The White House has not yet issued a statement in response to Trump's remarks.
