A devastating riot at a women's correctional facility near Tegucigalpa, Honduras, has resulted in the loss of at least 41 lives. Located in the town of Tamara, approximately 30 miles northwest of the capital, the prison became a scene of chaos and violence. According to Yuri Mora, spokesperson for the national police investigation agency, the majority of the victims perished in the fire, while reports also indicate some inmates may have been shot. Authorities are investigating the possible connection between the riot and internal issues such as corruption or gang activity within the prison.
