Champion hurdler Tobi Amusan has revealed she's facing charges for violating anti-doping rules. The Nigerian athlete, who holds the world record in the 100-meter hurdles, shared the news on Instagram, stating she missed three drug tests over a 12-month period. Amusan maintains her innocence, emphasizing her status as a clean athlete and her frequent testing by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the organization responsible for the charges.

Amusan's remarkable world record of 12.12 seconds was set at the World Championships in Oregon last year, astonishing spectators during the semifinals. She went on to win gold in the final with a time of 12.06, a time that wasn't ratified as a record due to excessive tailwind. Recalling the moment, Amusan expressed her own surprise at the record-breaking performance.

The athlete's training history includes a partnership with fellow Nigerian and UTEP alum Blessing Okagbare, who is currently serving an 11-year ban for doping violations connected to a federal investigation in El Paso.

Missing three drug tests can lead to a two-year suspension, although exceptions are sometimes made. Amusan explains she was tested shortly after the third missed test and is confident the situation will be resolved before the upcoming world championships next month, allowing her to compete.
