Amidst the devastating wildfires sweeping across Southern California, Wednesday night's NHL game between the Los Angeles Kings and the Calgary Flames at Crypto.com Arena was postponed. The Pacific Division rivals were scheduled to face off at 7:30 p.m. PT, with their next meeting slated for Saturday in Calgary. The Kings' next scheduled game is now Friday against the Winnipeg Jets in Winnipeg.

The NHL released a statement expressing their concern: "Given the devastating impact of the wildfires currently affecting the Los Angeles region, tonight's game...has been postponed. The entire NHL community stands with the Kings, their fans, and everyone in the Los Angeles area during this challenging period."
Multiple wildfires, fueled by strong winds, have ravaged Southern California since Tuesday afternoon, resulting in fatalities and the destruction of over 1,000 structures. By Wednesday morning, five fires were actively burning, including one near a nature preserve northeast of Los Angeles, another in Pacific Palisades, and a third in the San Fernando Valley. Two additional fires ignited Wednesday morning.

After being grounded due to high winds, aircraft resumed water drops on the fires Wednesday. The NFL is also closely monitoring the situation regarding the upcoming playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Minnesota Vikings, scheduled for Monday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
