Wrestling icon Ric Flair is passionately advocating for his close friend and former Chicago Bears star, Steve McMichael, to be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. McMichael, a dominant defensive lineman who played 13 seasons with the Bears, is currently battling ALS.

As the Hall of Fame selection process unfolds, Flair has been vocal about McMichael's credentials, highlighting his impressive career statistics and comparing them favorably to Hall of Famer Warren Sapp. McMichael boasts 95 career sacks and 847 combined tackles, compared to Sapp's 96.5 sacks and 578 tackles. McMichael also played in more games than Sapp (213 to 198).

Flair, a two-time WWE Hall of Famer, expressed his frustration with the Hall of Fame voters' continued omission of McMichael, particularly given his health struggles. He has been leveraging his social media platform to raise awareness and garner support for McMichael's candidacy.

Beyond their shared wrestling history as part of the legendary "Four Horsemen" stable, Flair and McMichael maintain a deep personal bond. Flair remains in constant contact with McMichael's wife and continues to champion his friend's cause, hoping to see him enshrined in Canton before his battle with ALS concludes.

McMichael was named among the 60 semifinalists for the Class of 2024. The senior committee will meet on August 22nd to select three finalists for consideration. The final selection will be made later this year.
