Rex Heuermann's Disturbing Online Searches Revealed in Gilgo Beach Murders Case

Created: JANUARY 03, 2025

Authorities have unveiled disturbing details about the online activities of Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Gilgo Beach murders. According to law enforcement, Heuermann conducted thousands of explicit searches related to child pornography and other unsettling content.

Heuermann faces six murder charges: two counts (first and second degree) for each of the three identified victims—Melissa Barthelemy, Megan Waterman, and Amber Costello. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

A bail application reveals that Heuermann executed "thousands" of Google searches for explicit pornography and information about sex workers in his vicinity. The graphic nature of many of these searches prevents their detailed disclosure.

Heuermann, 59, is linked to at least 11 deaths after the discovery of 11 sets of human remains along a Long Island beach highway between 2010 and 2011.

Some of Heuermann's alleged searches include terms like "mistress long island" and "mature escorts Manhattan." A significant number of searches reportedly involved child pornography.

Law enforcement obtained Heuermann's search history through a warrant targeting a "junk" email account linked to burner phones he used.
