Princess Anne recently revisited Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where she received treatment for a concussion sustained in a horse-riding accident in June 2024. The Princess Royal spent five days at the hospital following the incident at her Gatcombe Park estate. Her medical team attributed her head injuries to an impact, possibly from a horse's head or legs.

During her visit, Princess Anne expressed her gratitude to the medical staff, admitting she had little recollection of her time there. "You've been filling in the blanks, which is incredibly helpful because I genuinely have no idea what happened, and unfortunately, I don't have many memories of being here," she told the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) staff. She emphasized her appreciation for their care, stating, "I just know I was very well looked after, so thank you. Whatever you did, it seemed to work... the recovery being relatively straightforward, thankfully."

The Princess Royal's visit included a tour of the hospital, meetings with doctors and nurses, and a performance by the staff choir. She also visited the helicopter pad utilized by the Air Ambulance, a role once held by her nephew, Prince William. Southmead Hospital specializes in various medical fields, including major trauma, neurosciences, and infectious diseases.

Princess Anne's accident in June 2024 resulted in a concussion, bruising, and temporary memory loss. The incident forced her to postpone a planned tour of Canada and several UK engagements. She has since returned to her royal duties. In a recent interview, she confessed to still piecing together the events of the accident, stating, "I know where I thought I was going… to the chickens. No, nothing to do with horses. I don’t have any idea what I was doing in the field." She acknowledged her fortunate escape from a more severe brain injury and expressed gratitude for each day.
