A New York Jets player fell victim to an armed robbery in New Jersey over the weekend, with authorities suggesting he and another individual were targeted after a visit to Manhattan. The Morristown Department of Public Safety confirmed the incident, stating that two people were robbed at gunpoint around 8 p.m. ET on Saturday in the Windmill Pond area.

Witnesses described a group of unidentified men exiting a dark SUV and robbing the occupants of another vehicle at gunpoint, taking cash and personal belongings before fleeing. While no injuries were reported, law enforcement believes the victims were followed from Manhattan and specifically targeted, though they consider this an isolated event.

Although official identification hasn't been released, a local resident informed NBC New York that one of the victims was a current Jets player. This incident follows a recent trend of thefts and robberies affecting professional athletes, including a case where Chilean migrants were charged with orchestrating burglaries at the homes of sports stars like Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, resulting in the theft of approximately $2 million worth of valuables.
