First Lady Jill Biden is set to commence her individual campaign efforts for the 2024 election, starting with a three-day fundraising tour across New York and California. The tour, which begins Monday, will include stops in New York City, San Francisco, and Los Angeles, focusing on raising funds for her husband's re-election campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and Democratic state parties.
In addition to fundraising, Dr. Biden will also participate in an event with former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords in Los Angeles to mark the 30th anniversary of the Giffords Law Center, a non-profit organization dedicated to gun control.

This campaign swing follows a recent event where the First Lady's attempt to connect with the audience about shared American values fell somewhat flat, prompting her to humorously remark, "I thought you might clap for that." The moment drew comparisons to a similar instance with Jeb Bush during the 2016 presidential campaign.
Dr. Biden, who continues to work as a community college English professor, has been a vocal advocate for voter participation, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing voting in the upcoming election. She often uses the analogy of a to-do list, urging people to place voting at the top.

Senior campaign advisor Elizabeth Alexander, formerly Dr. Biden's communications director, highlighted the First Lady's effectiveness as a campaign messenger. Her approachable demeanor, combined with her extensive experience as an educator, resonates with audiences. Democratic strategists and pollsters echo this sentiment, noting her perceived kindness and relatability as significant assets.

While generally well-received, some of Dr. Biden's past remarks have drawn criticism, such as her comparison of Hispanic diversity to breakfast tacos and her suggestion that both the winners and losers of the NCAA women’s basketball final be invited to the White House.

Despite these occasional controversies, Dr. Biden remains a prominent figure in her husband's campaign, drawing on her decades of experience as a public speaker and advocate. She has previously expressed her belief that President Biden has more to accomplish for the American people.
