Marty Ryall Appointed New Director of Arkansas Heritage Division

Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has selected Marty Ryall to lead the state's Heritage Division, succeeding the retiring Jimmy Bryant. Ryall, who expressed enthusiasm for Arkansas's history and natural beauty, brings significant experience to the role. He has been serving as the Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism's legislative affairs director since January and previously held the position of governmental affairs director for Arkansas PBS. His background also includes a stint as executive director of the Arkansas Republican Party.

Governor Sanders praised Ryall's qualifications and expressed confidence in his ability to elevate Arkansas Heritage. Ryall's annual salary will be $120,000, commencing July 1st. The Arkansas Heritage Division oversees various institutions such as the state archives, the Arkansas Arts Council, and the Historic Arkansas Museum.

This appointment comes amidst a period of transition for the department, with the recent resignation of Secretary Mike Mills and the upcoming departure of Arkansas Tourism Director Travis Napper. State Parks Director Shea Lewis is currently serving as interim secretary.
