Tennis icon Martina Navratilova has once again voiced her strong opinions on the inclusion of transgender athletes in women's sports, this time expressing frustration with the Democratic Party's handling of the issue.
In a recent post on X (formerly Twitter), Navratilova shared an image of Republican Congresswoman Nancy Mace with members of Gays Against Groomers, holding a sign advocating for the protection of women's sports. Navratilova expressed anger that Republicans, rather than her own Democratic Party, have taken the lead on this controversial topic. She questioned the silence of Democratic elected officials on the matter, using the hashtag #whataboutthewomen.

This isn't the first time Navratilova has publicly disagreed with the left's stance on this issue. She participated in the Independent Women's Forum's "Take Back Title IX" rally, challenging the Biden administration's proposed changes. Navratilova explained that she and other Democrats initially sought ways to fairly include transgender athletes in women's sports, but further investigation led her to believe it was inherently unfair.

She recounted her efforts to find ways to mitigate the perceived advantages of transgender women athletes, but ultimately concluded that fairness was impossible to achieve. Navratilova also drew a connection between women's sports and sex-based spaces, referencing the controversy surrounding Lia Thomas.
Navratilova further described the backlash she's faced for her views, including being labeled with terms like "homophobe," "bigot," and "transphobe," ironically coming from those she identifies as her own political side. She expressed dismay that those on the left are turning against women who advocate for sex-based rights.

Navratilova's history of outspokenness on this topic includes calling Paralympic sprinter Valentina Petrillo a "cheater" and publicly advocating for keeping women's sports exclusively for biological females.
