Representative Roger Williams, the Republican chair of the House Committee on Small Business, is urging the newly appointed Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Kelly Loeffler to address concerns regarding alleged taxpayer-funded electioneering and the recovery of misappropriated COVID-19 relief funds. Williams criticizes the Biden administration's lack of cooperation with the committee's investigation into an agreement between the SBA and Michigan election officials under a 2021 executive order. He emphasizes the committee's commitment to working with Loeffler to investigate the potential impact on the 2024 election, now that the executive order has been rescinded by President Trump.

The committee also raises concerns about Biden-era rule changes that they believe pose a risk to the SBA's small business lending portfolio. Furthermore, they highlight the issue of potentially fraudulent COVID aid recipients, estimated to involve around $200 billion, and question the Biden administration's decision to suspend collections for smaller loans. Williams aims to collaborate with Loeffler to restore credibility and transparency to the SBA and ensure small businesses are represented effectively within the government.

Williams issued a subpoena last year for information related to potential taxpayer spending on voter registration in Michigan, a move criticized by Democrats. While the Biden administration denied wrongdoing, Williams remains committed to investigating the matter. He also seeks to investigate the SBA's stance on recovering misallocated COVID aid, collaborating with Loeffler and the Trump administration to address these concerns and support small businesses nationwide.
