The online backlash stemmed from Green's support of Fox after former congressional candidate Robby Starbuck alleged that he witnessed Fox forcing her sons to wear girls' clothes, leading to a "breakdown." Fox vehemently denied these claims on Instagram, accusing Starbuck of exploiting her child's gender identity for attention and labeling him a "clout chaser." She defended her parenting, stating her pride in her children and her efforts to create an inclusive environment where they feel comfortable expressing themselves through clothing.

Fox has previously discussed her eldest son, Noah, wearing dresses since a young age.
