Fifteen years after being targeted by the New Orleans Saints' infamous "Bounty Gate" scandal, NFL legend Brett Favre shared his thoughts on the incident via a post on X (formerly Twitter). In 2009, the Saints were found to have offered players financial incentives to injure opponents, including Favre, then quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings were seen as the Saints' biggest competition in the NFC on their path to the Super Bowl.

Despite enduring several hard hits during the NFC Championship game, which the Saints won 31-28 in overtime, Favre maintains he holds no resentment. He even acknowledged throwing a crucial interception in overtime. Favre emphasized his focus was always on playing within the rules and preparing for any physical challenges the game presented. He stated that losing only motivated him to work harder. The Hall of Famer expressed no lingering negativity towards those involved in the bounty program, stating he even cheered for the Saints in the Super Bowl that year. He reflected that if he could replay certain moments from the game, perhaps the outcome would have been different.

The Saints went on to win Super Bowl XLIV against the Indianapolis Colts. However, the subsequent uncovering of the bounty scandal resulted in significant penalties for the Saints organization, including a year-long suspension for head coach Sean Payton, an indefinite suspension (later reinstated) for defensive coordinator Greg Williams, suspensions for other coaches and players, fines, and forfeited draft picks. The NFL's investigation revealed a system where players received bonuses for "knockouts" (injuring a player so they couldn't return) and "cart-offs" (forcing a player to be taken off the field).
