During her Department of Justice (DOJ) confirmation hearing, Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi engaged in a spirited debate with Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn). Blumenthal challenged President-elect Trump's choice of Kash Patel to head the FBI, citing Patel's previous remarks about potentially shuttering FBI headquarters and purported "enemy lists."

Bondi stated she was not fully aware of the comments in question and hadn't spoken to Patel about them. She highlighted Patel's background as a prosecutor and public defender, emphasizing his experience in both legal and intelligence fields. Bondi assured the committee that if confirmed, both she and Patel would uphold the law.

Blumenthal expressed his disappointment with Bondi's response, stating he expected her to denounce Patel's statements. This exchange followed similar questioning from Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) concerning the alleged "enemy list" mentioned in Patel's book, "Government Gangsters: The Deep State, the Truth, and the Battle for Our Democracy." Bondi defended Patel against these accusations as well, firmly stating that there would be no such list under her leadership at the DOJ.
