Trump specifically targeted a drag event held at the Kennedy Center in October 2024, stating, "Just last year, the Kennedy Center featured Drag Shows specifically targeting our youth — THIS WILL STOP." The event, called the Dancing Queens Drag Brunch, took place at the center's Roof Terrace Restaurant and showcased drag artists from Washington, D.C.

The event featured Tula, a 2024 Capital Pride Honoree, and other performers representing the diversity of the D.C. queer community. Tickets, which included bottomless mimosas, cost almost $100 and required reservations.

Trump referred to the Kennedy Center as an “American jewel” and emphasized his intention to ensure it showcases the nation’s top talent. He declared his commitment to revitalizing the center, stating, "At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. For the Kennedy Center, THE BEST IS YET TO COME!" The specific board members removed remained unclear as of Friday night.
