Toronto Police Identify Remains of 4-Year-Old Girl Found in Dumpster

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Authorities in Toronto have revealed the identity of a young girl whose remains were discovered in a construction dumpster over a year ago. Four-year-old Neveah Tucker's body was found in May 2022, and police believe she passed away sometime in 2021. Hank Idsinga, leading the Homicide and Missing Persons Unit, shared the update, stating Neveah would have been approaching her fifth birthday when her remains were located. While the investigation remains active, no arrests or charges have been made, and the cause of death is still undetermined.

Investigators were able to identify Neveah thanks to information received from a community member and the diligent work of forensic specialists. Neveah's mother, a Toronto resident, was informed of the identification earlier on Thursday. The discovery of Neveah's remains deeply affected the affluent neighborhood where she was found, prompting an extensive search across Canada and internationally.

Last year, Toronto police released two artist sketches of the girl, created with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police and the coroner’s office. The girl’s body was discovered wrapped in a blanket with a butterfly pattern inside a plastic bag, which was further encased in a burgundy and red blanket.
