The Clay County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting the incident at approximately 9:37 a.m. Emergency responders arrived to find the plane engulfed in flames. The aircraft had recently taken off from a nearby small airport and had a full tank of approximately 140 gallons of fuel, which is believed to have intensified the fire. The pilot's identity has not yet been released, and there were no other passengers on board.
