The Vatican shared photos of the Pope's interactions with the young cancer patients and conveyed his deep gratitude for the outpouring of support and prayers he has received. The 86-year-old pontiff's surgery addressed a hernia and internal scarring, which doctors believe will not hinder his future travels and activities. Dr. Sergio Alfieri, who oversaw the procedure, reported that the Pope's spirits were high post-surgery, even sharing lighthearted moments with the medical team.
