Former "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson is facing health challenges, including an early-stage Alzheimer's diagnosis and an unspecified blood disorder, according to his son Jase Robertson. This revelation came during a recent episode of the "Unashamed with the Robertson Family" podcast.
Jase described his father's condition as rapidly deteriorating, impacting his entire body and causing significant pain. The combination of the blood disease and Alzheimer's is making daily life increasingly difficult for the reality TV star. Phil's diminished health has prevented him from participating in the family's podcast, a source of connection and storytelling that he deeply misses.
Doctors have informed the family that Phil's ailments are incurable, and their focus is now on providing him with comfort and support. The family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of prayers and well wishes they have received. Phil Robertson rose to fame on the A&E reality show "Duck Dynasty," which aired from 2012 to 2017. He is also the founder of the Duck Commander Company.
In 2013, Robertson sparked controversy after a GQ interview where he expressed his views on homosexuality, leading to a temporary suspension from "Duck Dynasty." He later reflected on this incident in his 2022 book, "Uncanceled: Finding Meaning and Peace in a Culture of Accusations, Shame, and Condemnation," attributing the backlash to his quoting of a Bible verse. Despite the controversy, Robertson maintained he had no regrets about the interview, emphasizing his Christian faith and belief in loving one's neighbor.
"Duck Dynasty" achieved record-breaking ratings for a non-fiction cable series, but viewership declined following the 2013 controversy, eventually concluding in 2017 after 11 seasons.
