In a disturbing incident over the weekend, an Albion, Michigan mother was taken into custody after allegedly stabbing her 2-year-old daughter multiple times and then attempting to submerge the child in a bathtub. Authorities were alerted to the situation by a chilling 911 call, where children's screams and pleas for assistance could be heard.
Officers from the Albion Department of Public Safety (ADPS) and Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office responded swiftly, forcing entry into the locked residence. Inside, they discovered a 35-year-old woman holding a 2-year-old underwater. An officer immediately intervened, rescuing the child and performing CPR, which thankfully revived the toddler.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman is a mother of four. The 2-year-old girl suffered stab wounds to her chest and throat, while her 4-year-old brother also had cuts. Investigators suspect both young children may have ingested cleaning fluid. A 15-year-old, who placed the initial 911 call, and an 8-year-old, also residing in the home, appeared to be unharmed. Authorities believe the mother herself may have also ingested cleaning fluid.

The two youngest children were transported to a hospital in Jackson and subsequently airlifted to Ann Arbor. Both are currently reported to be in stable condition. ADPS Chief Scott Kipp praised the prompt actions of the responding officers, emphasizing their crucial role in saving the 2-year-old's life.
