Memphis Man Arrested for Allegedly Squatting, Stealing from Apartments

A 38-year-old man in Memphis, Tennessee faces multiple charges after allegedly squatting in several apartments and stealing items from a nearby complex. Ishmail Fason was apprehended on July 6th following reports of unauthorized occupation of units within the Serenity at Highland apartment complex. According to police, Fason was first discovered in room 315 on June 6th. He was later found occupying room 513 on July 6th, despite being previously banned from the property. Apartment management informed officers that Fason had allegedly broken padlocks to access the vacant apartments. Upon his arrest, Fason was taken to a local police station for questioning.

Authorities also discovered items within the apartment believed to be stolen from a burglary at the Highland Terrace Apartments on June 25th. Security footage also allegedly implicates Fason in the theft of a Samsung television from The Monarch apartment building lobby on July 3rd. Fason is now facing charges including two counts of burglary, theft of property under $1,000, two counts of vandalism, and criminal trespassing.
