Music moguls Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Sean "Diddy" Combs are facing renewed scrutiny following the refiling of a lawsuit containing disturbing allegations of rape and involvement in sex trafficking. The lawsuit, originally filed in October and refiled in New York, accuses both Carter and Combs of assaulting a minor at an MTV VMAs after-party in 2000.

The anonymous accuser claims Carter raped her while Combs and another unnamed celebrity were present. The initial filing accused Combs of the assault, with Carter and another individual as witnesses. This updated filing names Carter as the perpetrator.
Jay-Z vehemently denies the accusations, calling them a blackmail attempt by lawyer Tony Buzzbee. In a statement released via Roc Nation's X account, he urged Buzzbee to file criminal charges rather than a civil suit, emphasizing the severity of such crimes against minors.
Combs' representatives also deny the allegations, labeling the lawsuit a publicity stunt aimed at extorting money from celebrities. They express confidence in the judicial process and maintain Combs' innocence.

The lawsuit details a close relationship between the two artists, alleging they "took turns assaulting the minor" while others present did nothing to intervene. The accuser, then 13, was allegedly lured to the after-party by a limousine driver claiming to work for Diddy after being denied entry to the VMAs.

Upon arrival, she was reportedly made to sign a non-disclosure agreement without receiving a copy. The suit alleges Combs attempted to force her into performing oral sex but stopped after she resisted.

These allegations come as Combs faces separate charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He could face a minimum of 15 years or life imprisonment if convicted. Authorities allege he used his businesses, including Bad Boy Entertainment, to conduct criminal activities involving violence, coercion, and abuse.
Representatives for Jay-Z have not commented on the refiled lawsuit. For support related to sexual assault, contact the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-HOPE (4673) or visit rainn.org.
