Following the 2024 election cycle, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene outlined her strategy for Democrats to regain control of the House in the 2026 midterms. DelBene, in an interview with Fox News Digital, emphasized building upon the party's successes in 2024, despite losing the presidency and failing to flip either chamber of Congress. Democrats did, however, narrow the Republican majority in the House, leaving them just three seats shy of regaining control.
DelBene highlighted the importance of fielding strong, independent candidates who resonate with their local communities. She stressed the need for these candidates to have the resources necessary to connect with voters and address key issues like economic opportunity and affordability.

With Republicans holding a slim majority and President-elect Trump returning to the White House, DelBene believes the GOP will be held accountable for their actions and their impact on working families. She emphasized the importance of bipartisan governance and holding Republicans accountable if they obstruct progress.

Historically, the party in power often faces setbacks in midterm elections, potentially giving Democrats an advantage. DelBene expressed confidence in the DCCC's ability to connect with voters nationwide and ensure they have accurate information about Democratic candidates' positions.
