During a recent Twitch livestream, New York Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez discussed the reasons behind Democrats referring to former President Trump as a fascist. This follows a conversation on "The Weekly Show with Jon Stewart" where Ocasio-Cortez and Stewart expressed concern over the perceived normalization of Trump by Democrats and Big Tech following his inauguration. Stewart questioned the Democrats' seemingly subdued response to Trump's return, contrasting it with their previous strong opposition. He suggested their earlier stance might have been performative. Ocasio-Cortez agreed, arguing that Trump's increased acceptance makes him more dangerous. She highlighted the presence of Big Tech CEOs like Mark Zuckerberg, Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos, Sundar Pichai, and Elon Musk at the inauguration as evidence of this normalization. Ocasio-Cortez also pointed to fashion designer Oscar de la Renta's involvement with the First and Second families as another sign of Trump's growing acceptance within elite circles. She criticized what she described as a "billionaire feeding frenzy" and a rush to show loyalty to Trump for personal gain. Ocasio-Cortez ultimately argued that the public is being "ripped off" and described Trump as a "quintessential New York con man."
