Actor Tom Welling Arrested on Suspicion of DUI in California

Early Sunday morning, authorities in California took actor Tom Welling, known for his role as Superman in the television series "Smallville," into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence. The Yreka Police Department apprehended Welling at an Arby's restaurant. Subsequently, he was processed at the Siskiyou County Sheriff’s Office around 2 a.m. local time.

Welling was released around 7 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a misdemeanor citation. His court appearance is scheduled for March 11. Fox News Digital has reached out to Welling's representatives for a statement.

Welling rose to prominence with his portrayal of a young Clark Kent in "Smallville," which debuted in 2001. The series followed the future superhero's journey leading up to his iconic Superman persona. The show also featured actors such as Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack, Kristin Kreuk, and Justin Hartley.

Beyond "Smallville," Welling's acting credits include roles in films like "Cheaper by the Dozen," where he starred alongside Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt, as well as appearances in "The Fog," "Draft Day," "Lucifer," and the more recent "Mafia Wars."

Interestingly, just before the arrest, Welling had posted a birthday tribute to his wife, Jessica Rose Lee Welling, on social media. The post featured photos of his wife, whom he married in 2019, and with whom he has two sons.
