A security guard employed by the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) was shot and wounded while on duty aboard a Market-Frankford Line train Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred around 3:10 p.m. at the Arrott Transportation Center in Northeast Philadelphia.
The guard, a 27-year-old employee of Scotlandyard Security Services, was reported to be in stable condition Thursday evening. Scotlandyard provides outreach personnel for SEPTA. Details surrounding the shooting remain scarce, and authorities have not yet disclosed whether any witnesses were present.

These "outreach specialists," over 80 of whom were deployed in 2022, are tasked with enforcing transit rules and contacting SEPTA police when necessary. They do not carry weapons. The implementation of these security personnel followed a series of sexual assaults reported on the transit system between October 2021 and April 2022.
