Texas Real Estate Agent Murder Case: Husband Back in Court as Evidence Mounts

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Over four months after the disappearance of Texas real estate agent Suzanne Simpson, her husband, Brad Simpson, appeared in a San Antonio courtroom on December 9, 2024. Charged with Suzanne's murder, Brad's defense team is now meticulously reviewing the substantial evidence collected by authorities.

During the recent hearing, prosecutors revealed they anticipate receiving five to six terabytes of evidence from the Texas Rangers. Meanwhile, the defense stated they require approximately one terabyte of evidence to review before proceeding with a motion to dismiss the indictment, as reported by KSAT. The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed that the search for Suzanne's remains is ongoing, with no indication that she is still alive.

The 51-year-old mother of four disappeared on October 6, 2024, following an alleged altercation with Brad outside their Olmos Park home. Official records indicate authorities suspect Brad of causing Suzanne's death on or around that date. Currently held in Bexar County Jail on a combined $3 million bond, Brad faces charges of murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member, tampering with a corpse, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Legal experts note the rarity of prosecuting a murder case without the victim's body, although not entirely unheard of. Plea bargains are a possibility, potentially involving a reduced sentence in exchange for information leading to the discovery of Suzanne's remains. The couple's five-year-old child reportedly told a school counselor about witnessing Brad assaulting Suzanne on the night of her disappearance. Investigators also documented Brad's unusual activities following Suzanne's vanishing, including deactivating his phone, transporting suspicious items in his truck, visiting a dump site, and thoroughly cleaning his vehicle.

Documents reveal Suzanne's DNA was found on a reciprocating saw reportedly hidden by Brad. The defense is currently reviewing evidence from the Texas Rangers in preparation for a potential challenge to the indictment. A memorial service was held for Suzanne on December 20, 2024, at First Presbyterian Church in San Antonio, attended by hundreds of mourners. Brad Simpson's next court appearance is scheduled for March 12.
