Texas Governor Greg Abbott has initiated a striking billboard campaign aimed at discouraging illegal immigration by highlighting the harsh realities and dangers faced by those attempting to cross the border illegally. The billboards, displayed in multiple languages across Mexico and Central America, depict stark warnings about human trafficking, violence, and the likelihood of arrest and deportation.
Governor Abbott emphasized the campaign's goal of exposing the truth about the risks of illegal immigration, particularly the vulnerability of women and children to assault by traffickers. He stressed the message: "Do not risk a dangerous trip just to be arrested and deported." The governor recently visited the border with incoming border czar, Tom Homan, and reiterated the new administration's commitment to prioritizing the deportation of illegal immigrants with criminal records.

The billboards, written in Spanish, Russian, Chinese, and Arabic, are strategically positioned along common migrant travel routes. Speaking at a ranch on the southern border near a so-called "rape tree," where it is alleged migrant women have been assaulted, Governor Abbott explained that the billboards aim to share the "horror stories of human trafficking" and inform potential illegal immigrants about the consequences of illegal entry into Texas.

Governor Abbott criticized organizations that downplay the dangers of illegal immigration, emphasizing the state's efforts to present the stark realities to potential migrants in order to "save their lives" and prevent sexual assault and arrest. He stated, "This is tough medicine, but we want no more rape trees in Texas. Do not make the dangerous trek to Texas."
The governor also expressed his concern about the surge in illegal immigration, attributing it to the Biden administration and expressing hope that the incoming Trump administration will prioritize border security and restore order to the immigration process.
