A ten-year veteran of the Seattle Police Department is vying for a seat on the city council, challenging the incumbent in District 7, which encompasses the city's downtown area. Officer Aaron Marshall, one of five challengers, expressed his primary concern for public safety in a recent interview on the Jason Rantz radio show.
Marshall voiced his frustration with the current state of affairs, stating his desire to effect change from the top down. He believes his two decades of residency in District 7 makes him the ideal candidate to address the area's challenges, which include recent protests, homelessness, and a surge in crime that peaked at a 14-year high in 2022. He specifically referenced the 2020 Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP) as a contributing factor to the city's struggles.

Marshall explicitly stated his belief that no incumbent council members deserve reelection, including District 7's current representative, Andrew Lewis. He compared the council's performance to that of a failing business, questioning whether anyone would rehire employees with such a track record. While acknowledging Lewis's significant fundraising efforts, Marshall criticized him as a "political windsock" influenced by public opinion rather than firm principles. He urged voters to look beyond party lines when considering their choices.

Marshall, who also served in the Marine Corps, reflected on his decade of service with the Seattle Police Department. He emphasized his pride in his police work and his deep connection to the city. Despite his passion for law enforcement, he expressed his willingness to leave the force to serve the city in a different capacity. He stressed the urgent need for common sense and an independent voice in city government. Fox News Digital reached out to both Marshall and Lewis's campaigns for further comment.
